Some areas of the UK are set for pleasant sunshine this bank holiday weekend, with temperatures rising as high as 20C.

Met Office Forecasters have revealed all the places Brits can expect to bask in the sun over the bank holiday, while others won’t be as lucky, instead facing heavy outbreaks of rain.

According to forecasters, the best of the sunshine will be seen in southern parts of the UK and the Midlands, with potential highs of 19C. A map released by the Met Office shows clear skies over these areas, but Brits have also been warned there will be a split across the country today, with southern parts of England and Wales set to be dry and bright. Meanwhile, heavy outbreaks of rain is set to dampen Bank Holiday spirits in some parts of northern England and Scotland.

Greg Dewhurst, a meteorologist at the Met Office, said there will be “plenty of sunshine around, but it will become cloudier the further north you are”. He added those looking for the Saturday sun should be luckiest in the Midlands or East Anglia, where temperatures could peak at around 18C.

Mr Dewhurst said northern areas of the UK will experience heavy showers: “Hopefully, across the day the clouds will break, and there will be some sunnier spells.”

In the warmest areas, temperatures could peak at around 19C to 20C. These higher temperatures are expected in the Midlands, East Anglia, and southern areas of Wales over Sunday and Monday.

The Met Office has confirmed there are currently no weather warnings in place for the weekend but urged Brits to keep an eye on the “uncertain” and changeable forecast for Monday. While the East Midlands and East Anglia is set to remain warm, longer spells of rain may develop in areas of the south of England.

Today’s forcast wil see most northern areas cloudy with showery rain, but some areas will see heavy ran and possible thunder. There will be brighter with warm sunny spells in northwest Scotland, central and southern England, along with south Wales. But there may be some heavy showers, particularly in southeast England.
