Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the , and sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the added 1.35% to hit a new 1-month high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the were Segro Plc (LON:), which rose 8.45% or 66.80 points to trade at 857.80 at the close. Intermediate Capital Group PLC (LON:) added 8.22% or 93.50 points to end at 1,230.50 and Schroders PLC (LON:) was up 8.08% or 33.70 points to 451.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included B&M European Value Retail SA (LON:), which lost 4.52% or 16.90 points to trade at 357.20 in late trade. Rolls-Royce Holdings PLC (LON:) declined 3.00% or 2.66 points to end at 85.96 and BAE Systems PLC (LON:) shed 2.95% or 23.60 points to 777.00.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1349 to 504 and 423 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 2.34% or 40.15 to $1,753.85 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December rose 1.14% or 0.98 to hit $86.81 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract rose 1.34% or 1.24 to trade at $93.89 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 2.74% to 1.17, while EUR/GBP fell 1.18% to 0.87.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 1.96% at 108.29.
