Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the , and sectors propelled shares higher.

The biggest gainers of the session on the were Antofagasta PLC (LON:), which rose 7.07% or 81.00 points to trade at 1,227.50 at the close. EasyJet PLC (LON:) added 6.06% or 19.20 points to end at 335.80 and Hikma Pharmaceuticals PLC (LON:) was up 4.96% or 59.00 points to 1,249.50 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Standard Chartered PLC (LON:), which lost 5.12% or 28.40 points to trade at 526.00 in late trade. Reckitt Benckiser Group PLC (LON:) declined 4.09% or 244.00 points to end at 5,722.00 and Coca Cola HBC AG (LON:) shed 2.53% or 49.50 points to 1,904.00.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1206 to 546 and 500 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.73% or 12.05 to $1,670.05 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December rose 3.20% or 2.73 to hit $88.05 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract rose 2.42% or 2.22 to trade at $93.96 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 1.24% to 1.16, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.05% to 0.87.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 1.08% at 109.63.
