Investing.com – Canada equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the , and sectors propelled shares lower.

The biggest gainers of the session on the were Canopy Growth Corp (TSX:), which rose 18.93% or 0.81 points to trade at 5.09 at the close. Tilray Inc (TSX:) added 12.35% or 0.61 points to end at 5.55 and Birchcliff Energy Ltd . (TSX:) was up 7.84% or 0.77 points to 10.59 in late trade.
Biggest losers included NFI Group Inc (TSX:), which lost 8.62% or 0.83 points to trade at 8.80 in late trade. Torex Gold Resources Inc (TSX:) declined 7.29% or 0.73 points to end at 9.28 and Canada Goose Holdings Inc (TSX:) shed 5.91% or 1.40 points to 22.29.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 571 to 435 and 91 ended unchanged on the Toronto Stock Exchange.
The , which measures the implied volatility of S&P/TSX Composite options, was up 0.30% to 23.40.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.53% or 8.75 to $1,636.05 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December fell 1.95% or 1.71 to hit $86.19 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract fell 1.30% or 1.22 to trade at $92.55 a barrel.
CAD/USD was unchanged 0.10% to 0.73, while CAD/EUR rose 0.75% to 0.74.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.76% at 111.45.
