Three people – including two pensioners – were arrested on suspicion of fraud after ‘suspicious activity’ was found on an elderly man’s bank account.
Police were called by the victim’s bank on Friday (September 29) to report the activity. On Monday (October 2), officers arrested three people in the Bolton area.
An elderly man and woman – aged 81 and 76 – and another 46-year-old man were arrested on suspicion of fraud. They have all since been released on bail.

Greater Manchester Police’s Criminal Investigation Department is continuing to investigate. A post on the GMP Bolton North Facebook page last night said: “#ARRESTS | On Friday 29th September 2023, police received a call from a bank reporting some suspicious activity on an elderly gentleman’s bank account.
“Yesterday (02/10/23), officers from the #Bolton North, West and South Neighbourhood Teams made some arrests in connection to this incident. An 81-year-old male, 76-year-old female and 46-year-old male were arrested on suspicion of fraud.
“Following an investigation by our Criminal Investigation Department, they have been released on bail whilst officers conduct further enquiries.”
