People moves: Finland’s Church scheme created new sustainability head role | News


Church Pension Fund (Kirkon eläkerahasto, KER)Anna-Stina Wiklund has been appointed as head of sustainable investment and portfolio manager at Finland’s Church Pension Fund, and Juhana Hannuksela as equity portfolio manager. The pension fund said it is strengthening its investment organisation with the two newly-created roles.

Wiklund joins from Ålandsbanken Fund Management where she was a sustainability manager focusing on integrating sustainability questions into different asset classes as well as on implementing EU sustainable finance regulation requirements into Ålandsbanken-branded products, according to KER.

Hannuksela, meanwhile, was previously working at the Bank of Finland, where he held a position as portfolio manager with focus on direct fixed income and equity fund investments within foreign reserves.


K3 Advisory – The consultancy has announced the appointment of Andrea Mendham as partner. She joins K3 from Just Group where she was involved in all aspects of bulk annuity transactions, leading relationships with professional trustees, and the buy-in to buyout transaction team.

Prior to that, she was with the Pension Protection Fund. Mendham qualified at the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries as a fellow in 2011.


Independent Governance Group (IGG) – The UK’s provider of professional pensions trusteeship and governance services has welcomed Jo Holden as its newest trustee director.

Holden joins IGG with more than 20 years of pensions industry experience, including four as a non-executive trustee director of Charterhouse Pensions Limited. Prior to joining IGG, she was head of governance for the HSBC DC Master Trust, she was previously responsible for managing the bank’s global pension risk exposure.

In her new role supporting IGG clients, Holden will focus on good governance and risk management for pension schemes, drawing on her broad experience as a trustee, consultant and in-house sponsor expertise to provide robust advice on key regulatory requirements. She will have a particular focus on defined contribution-related work.

Holden will be based across both the London and newly-opened Bristol offices, where her experience across the pensions industry makes her well placed to bolster and develop current and future business operations.


Allianz Global Investors – The German asset manager has appointed Thomas Schindler as the new chief financial officer. Schindler succeeds Markus Kobler.

In his new role, Schindler will be responsible for finances and governance, and for the legal, compliance and risk management departments. He is already responsible for those departments as global general counsel.

Schindler joined the Allianz Group in 2006, holding various positions in the asset management division. He has been global general counsel at AllianzGI since 2019. Previously he held the position of European general counsel and head of the board for Allianz Asset Management, the holding company of Allianz Global Investors and Pimco.


Golding Capital Partners – The alternatives asset manager has named Tim Ickenroth as director institutional clients. In his new role, Ickenroth will support insurance companies in Germany.

He has many years of experience in advising institutional investors in German-speaking countries. Before joining Golding, Ickenroth served at UniCredit Group and BNP Paribas, where he was responsible for advising German and Austrian insurance companies, as well as company pension funds.


Aargauische Pensionskasse (APK) – The Swiss pension fund for the employees of the Aargau canton has appointed Adriano Sbriglio as the new chief investment officer, effective from October this year.

Sbriglio will succeed David Engel, and will also join APK’s management board. He relies on many years of experience in the field of investments. He is currently head of portfolio management at Postfinance.


Federated Hermes – The firm has appointed Stefan Arneth as sales director for private markets. As head of the newly-created position, Arneth will be responsible for expanding sales in the global private markets division from Munich.

He will report to Jakob Nilsson, head of private market sales (ex-North America), based London.

Federated Hermes’s global private markets division includes private equity, private debt, real estate (equity and debt) and infrastructure investment products and is one of the firm’s strategic growth areas. The firm manages approximately €19bn for private markets investments. It is expanding its sales team in the private markets division in Germany and Austria.

Prior to joining Federated Hermes, Arneth was head of investor relations for Germany, Austria and Switzerland at the private markets platform Capza. Previously, he was responsible for the institutional clients division within MEAG (Munich Ergo Asset Management).
