L&C Mortgages chief executive Alan Young has left the firm with immediate effect after less than 18 months at the business.
The fee-free mortgage broker says chief operating officer, Mark Harrington will become its interim chief executive until a new head is appointed.
The business would not comment on why Young had suddenly left the business after joining as chief executive in November 2022.
Young took over the leadership at the firm from Chris Mills, who had also led the broker for less than two years.
Prior to joining L&C Mortgages, Young was the founder and managing director of conveyancing and survey panel management business, Optimus, which he ran for four years.
In a seasoned career, Young was also chief commercial officer at John Charcol for two years and worked for ULS Technology for seven years, leaving as business development director.
Young says in a LinkedIn post: “Incredibly proud of what we achieved in my time at L&C. Time for a break…..!”
Harrington is a veteran at L&C Mortgages, working at the business for over 20 years in a variety of roles.
His first post at the broker was as a mortgage and protection adviser in 2003.
An L&C Mortgages spokesperson says: “L&C Mortgages can confirm that Alan Young has left his role as chief executive officer at L&C with immediate effect.
“Mark Harrington will step into the role of interim chief executive officer.
“Mark has been with the company for more than 21 years and has a deep understanding of L&C’s customers and colleagues.
“Together with the executive committee, Mark looks forward to continuing to drive L&C’s ongoing growth.”
