Fox News anchor Bret Baier has taken out a huge mortgage on the $37million luxury Regency-style home he purchased this summer after relocating to Florida with his family, DailyMail.com has learned.
The 53-year-old and his wife Amy, 45, snapped up a five-bedroom property in Palm Beach in August with a $24million loan secured by a trust controlled by the couple, public records reveal.
The political correspondent, whose contract was set to expire in 2026, appears to be eager to put down roots in the Sunshine State with the massive investment – which comes after he was handed a new ‘multi-year’ deal at the right-leaning news station.
Baier joins a growing list of conservative pundits and politicians who have recently made the move down south, particularly Palm Beach, where Donald Trump – with whom he landed an exclusive interview in June – has been based since leaving office.
The new home is located a mere four miles from the former president’s Mar-a-Lago resort and six miles from the townhouse that fellow Fox host Sean Hannity bought in 2021.
With about 8,000 square feet of living space, inside and out, the Palm Beach Regency-style house was built in 1992.
The home, bought from Roberta Weiner, the wife of Boston real estate developer Stephen Weiner, spans nearly a sixth of an acre and is just four houses west of the beach.
Extensively renovated in 2015, the property has five bedrooms, eight bathrooms and a pool.
The ‘Special Report’ star, who reportedly raked in more than $7million a year under his previous deal, bought his first Florida property in February 2022.
It came after he, Amy, and their two teenage boys, Paul, and Daniel, decided to spend more time in the Sunshine State during the coronavirus pandemic.
‘The move to Florida was a great adventure for our family, and the boys fell in love with it,’ the Fox News star told the Wall Street Journal.
The married couple’s trust borrowed $9million to acquire a $12million two-story home in Palm Beach’s upmarket North End district, according to deeds seen by DailyMail.com.
That house is now also up for grabs, having been on the market for $16.4million for the past five months.
Florida has been pulling in the rich and famous for decades with its light-touch taxes and warm weather.
Prices have also been driven up by the post-pandemic trend of remote working, with thousands of people flocking to the state from elsewhere in the country.
But making the permanent move south means the Baier family no longer needs their 16,000 square-foot mansion in Washington D.C.
The uber-luxury property has been put up for sale for an eye-popping $31.9million.
The former White House and Pentagon correspondent is expected to commute to Washington from Florida and is on the hunt for a pied-a-terre.
If the asking price is met, it would be a record real estate sale for a private home in this nation’s capital city.
The current sales record is $24.56million in the 2007 sale of an early 19th century D.C. mansion.
The D.C. power couple, who regularly hosted parties for Washington’s political elite, built the home on the grounds of a 1.5-acre house that they bought for just over $5million in 2018.
They then splashed out just over $30million tearing down the original property and building the sprawling Georgetown mansion.
They even drafted in the highly regarded D.C. designer Thomas Pheasant to lay out the interiors.
His plans include a wood-and-brass dining room table, that seats 14 people and costs north of $150,000.
The gated house, which sits next door to the Spanish ambassador’s official residence, also has a swimming pool, a putting green built by the golf-mad newsman, and an indoor sports court for the couple’s sons.
In June this year, Baier opened up to DailyMail.com about the health battles faced by Paul, now 15, who had to fight for his life after being born with a serious heart defect.
‘It turned out his heart was essentially pumping the wrong way. He had five significant heart defects, and if he didn’t get surgery in the first few days, he would die,’ Baier said in the exclusive interview.
‘He had a really big open-heart surgery 10 days into life. The surgeon reworked a heart the size of a walnut and arteries the size of angel hair pasta, in order for his heart to pump the right way.
‘He’s now had four open heart surgeries, 10 angioplasties, and a stomach surgery. We spent a lot of time in the hospital. And he’s doing great. He’s now 6’3’. I look up to him, literally.
Bret married Chicago native Amy in 2004, who takes the lead with the family’s charity efforts.
The mother-of-two and philanthropist helped raise more than $10.7million for Children’s National Medical Center at one star-studded ball in 2014.
The 45-year-old, a children’s health advocate, and her parents also personally donated $1million to the hospital, which treated their then-newborn son, in 2008.
