X may soon charge a fee to its users, and Martina Navratilova has expressed her disappointment over Elon Musk’s possible decision to make this change to the social media formerly known as Twitter. Musk spoke during a discussion focused on artificial intelligence, with Benjamin Netanyahu, explaining: “We’re moving to having a small monthly payment for use of the X system, it’s the only way I can think of to combat vast armies of bots.”

Martina Navratilova, always involved in social activism and supporter of LGBTQ+ rights, expressed her opinion on the issue, writing on X: “Sounds about right.

So much for a public forum where all voices can be heard, right Elon?”

Martina Navratilova: battles and criticisms

The former champion lashed out against the presence of trans athletes in certain events.

Navratilova wrote: “Hey, Usta: women’s tennis is not for failed male athletes, whatever their age. Would this be allowed at this month’s US Open? Only with an ID? I don’t think so...

It’s patriarchy for biological men to insist on the right to enter spaces created for women.

How difficult is it to understand? It is patriarchy for biological men to insist on the right to compete in the female category in sports.”

The victory of Alicia Rowley, a born male tennis player, in one of the tournaments for women over 55 organized by the United States Tennis Association, sparked a harsh reaction from Martina Navratilova.

It is not the first time that Navratilova expresses a harsh opinion on a very delicate issue in the world of sport. She told the Sunday Times: “It’s definitely unfair to women who have to compete against people who, biologically, are still men.

I’m happy to address a transgender woman in whatever form she prefers, but I wouldn’t be happy competing against her.”
