Venus Williams answers how she spent her first prize money

Venus Williams participated in a Q&A session on Instagram through the Instagram account of her clothing brand EleVen by Venus. One curious fan wanted to know how seven-time Grand Slam champion Williams spent her first big money.

“You know, I didn’t. I lived at home until I was 20 and then I bought a house with Serena that I lived in until she got married. I’m not a new car kind of person but I do like clothes. So maybe there’s my treat,” Williams answered, per Sportskeeda.

Another fan wanted to know Williams’ favorite and least favorite surface. Williams, who is a five-time Wimbledon champion, indicated she nowadays prefers slower surfaces. “Honestly, I like every surface. But I would say I don’t like the faster surfaces now because all the courts are slow, the balls are slow.

So I’m not used to playing on fast courts, so it really turns me off,” Williams said.

Williams appeared in four tournaments this year

Meanwhile, Williams hasn’t played since the US Open. Williams was out for 12 months, before returning to singles action in early-August, in Washington.

This year, Williams appeared in four singles tournaments – picking up for first round defeats. Williams’ last appearance came at the US Open, where she participated in both the singles and doubles events. In the US Open singles event, Williams exited the tournament after suffering a first round defeat to Alison van Uytvanck.

After her singles campaign was finished at Flushing Meadows, Williams competed in the doubles event with sister Serena Williams. The Williams sisters, who captured 14 Grand Slam titles together, didn’t make it far this time in New York as they were beaten in the first round by Lucie Hradecka and Linda Noskova. However, it should be noted that the Williams sisters were playing together for the first time since 2018.
