Tyson Fury vs Oleksandr Usyk prize money and fight purse: How much will boxers earn?

Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk will finally square off in the ring tonight as an undisputed heavyweight champion will be crowned in Saudi Arabia.

Both fighters will put their belts and unbeaten records on the line on Saturday and look to follow in the footsteps of Lennox Lewis in winning all the major belts in the division.

Fury brings the WBC belt to Riyadh while Usyk carries the WBA, WBO and IBF titles. It’s a highly-anticipated contest after the original date was cancelled due to a cut sustained to the Gypsy King’s eye in sparring.

It has been billed as the biggest fight of both fighter’s boxing career meaning, heavy pay cheques are on the line. Reports from the Independent have suggested that Fury is contracted to earn around 70 per cent of a total purse, thought to be around $150m (£116m).

There is a clause included in the contract stating that Fury must donate £1m of his earnings to Ukraine amid its ongoing war with Russia. Fury’s US promoter, Bob Arum, has gone on record to claim that the British boxer will earn more than $100m (£78m) from the fight.

“If you told Tyson Fury he’s set to make $100m, he’d really get p***ed off because he thinks, and I think he’s right, that he’s going to make a lot more,” said Arum. “I don’t know the number, but it’s a lot more than $100m.”
