TDK presents prize money of USD 50,000 to The United States(USA) for the world record of Mixed 4×400 Meters Relay at the 19th World Athletics Championships Budapest 23


TDK Corporation (TSE:6762), as an official World Athletics Partner, presents prize money of USD 50,000 under the ” World Record Programme” to The United States who won the gold medal setting a new world record of Mixed 4×400 Metres Relay at the World Athletics Championships Budapest 23 in Hungary. The award ceremony took place the day after the competition, on August 20th. USA was presented with a replica cheque for USD 50,000 with TDK’s company name handed over by President & CEO of TDK Corporation Mr. Noboru Saito.

TDK whose corporate motto is “Contribute to culture and industry through creativity” identifies with World Athletics whose vision is to “use the power and accessibility of athletics and our athletes to create a healthier and fitter world”. TDK has been sponsoring the World Athletics Championships since the first championships in Helsinki in 1983 as the official sponsor. TDK has held the right to sponsor a programme to reward athletes who break world records at the World Championships, under which TDK offers prize money of USD 100,000 for each new world record established in men’s competition since 1997, and 50,000 for each new world record established in mixed competition since 2019. TDK has given the World Record Awards 8 times in the past. The 9th award was won by USA at the World Athletics Championships Budapest 23. The second USD 50,000, which makes up the world record bonus of USD 100,000 for the 4 X 400m Mixed Relay, is being paid by World Athletics’ new Inside Track platform in Budapest.

TDK wishes to support those athletes who pursue the endless challenge of breaking records and to back young athletes who endeavor to shape the future.
