Sound of Christmas to Raise Money for Mayor’s Charities

Friday 1st December 2023

The Amici Choir is raising money for the Mayor’s Charities on Friday 8 December through The Sound of Christmas event at The Queen’s Hall, Newtownards.

The Mayor's Charities: K9, Royal British Legion and RNLI

Earlier this year, the Mayor of Ards and North Down, Councillor Jennifer Gilmour, announced that she would support K9 Search and Rescue Northern Ireland, the Royal British Legion’s branches in Ards and North Down, and the Royal National Lifeboat Institution’s stations in Ards and North Down during her term of office.

To date, more than £4,000 has been raised for the charities, and this will be bolstered further with all profits from Amici Choir’s event to be added to the charity pot. This is one of several fundraising events that are taking place during the Mayoral year, helping these charities that carry out vital work in our Borough to raise much-needed funds.

The Mayor of Ards and North Down, Councillor Jennifer Gilmour, said:

“I selected these three charities because they provide a lot of assistance to the people of Ards and North Down as well as those further afield so I am delighted that the Amici Choir is helping to raise money for them. I am really looking forward to The Sound of Christmas and would encourage everyone to buy a ticket to support the charities and get into the spirit of Christmas at what will be a great event.”

The Sound of Christmas starts at 7pm on Friday 8 December. Tickets cost £10 per person and are available to purchase from ticketsource.co.uk as well as from Visitor Information Centres and at the door on the night. All profits from the event will be donated to the Mayor’s Charities. For more information, visit The Mayor’s Charity page.
