Martin Lewis Money Show – Expert reveals how to get a FREE solicitor-drafted will & stop State getting hold of your cash

MARTIN Lewis has revealed how to get a FREE solicitor-drafted will – and stop the State getting ahold of your cash.

The money saving expert explained that this month people over the age of 55 can nab themselves a free will – and save adding “cost and hassle” on top of grief if a loved one dies.

Lewis also encouraged families to have those “difficult” will-related conversations now, rather than letting them drag out.

Speaking on the ITV show, he said: “This is one of those great conundrums, sometimes it’s the parents who don’t want to talk, sometimes it’s the adult children who don’t want to discuss this.

“We all have an obligation on each other, an obligation towards our families to make sure that we minimise the impact of death as much as we possibly can.

“Going to go through grief the last thing you possibly need is to add administration and cost and hassle on top.

“It is as important as possible that we try and engage in the conversations if we can.”

Lewis explained that if someone dies will-less the State decides where their assets go.

Hence why, he said, if you do have assets, drafting a will is the best idea so you can decide where they go.

Lewis said: “If you die without a will it is the state, not you, who decides where your assets go.”

He explained the rules are “complex” – and they “vary by UK nations”.

Lewis explained that this month Brits over the age of 55 can get a free solicitor-drafted will.

This month those living in Bristol, Cardiff, Essex, Glasgow, Leeds, Liverpool, London, and Newcastle will be able to nab the deal.

Lewis invited those who fit the bill to visit freewillsmonth.org.uk before the end of month.

He explained that while this covers only certain parts of the UK -others are covered during other months in the year.

It comes just days after Lewis warned thousands are yet to claim the new £400 energy bill help.

He also recently issued a one-month warning for first-time buyers who could miss out on £1,000 free cash.

Lewis said workers are also missing out on £1,000s in free cash due to a mistake.
