Dan Wilderness, a consumer advice expert, said: “MyWaitrose is unique as a loyalty scheme in having vouchers specifically targeted to your purchases.
“MyWaitrose also gives you a free Caffè Nero beans coffee with any purchase – if there’s one near you, grabbing one from there rather than a coffee shop can also save you a couple of pounds.
“One disadvantage of MyWaitrose is that you have to scan the specific voucher at the till rather than just your MyWaitrose card, so don’t forget.”

Shop at ‘bargain hour’ and go online
You’ll likely be familiar with the elusive supermarket yellow stickers – most stores use them to offer shoppers some of the biggest discounts on perishable items that are soon due to exceed their use-by date.
While the exact time that prices are marked down varies from store to store, Waitrose says that shoppers can find more yellow labels towards the end of the day, between 8-10pm for most stores.
The grocer said that it aims to only stock as much food as it knows can be sold, so as to avoid wastage, and does not send anything to landfill.
As for other offers, it can be easier to track down the best deals by going online. Waitrose has a dedicated ‘Offers’ section on its website, where prices can be marked down by as much as 50pc.
Save with meal plans and meal deals
Waitrose says that many of its meats are either restaurant-grade or better, and buying food to cook yourself is almost always going to be cheaper than eating out.
For inspiration, the grocer has introduced Super Saver recipes, for meals that cost under £2 per portion. You can add each recipe’s ingredients to your online trolley, meaning that planning meals for the week – and, crucially, reducing food waste – can be relatively easy.
Dinner meal deals are also an increasingly popular offer on supermarket shelves. Currently, Waitrose is selling three courses – including a main, side, dessert or starter – for £12 when shoppers order online.
