How much money do Paris Olympic athletes make for winning medals?

The 2024 Paris Olympics will bring together some of the top athletes in the world to contend in various games, vying for the gold, silver and bronze medals in competition.

However, you have to assume that money is also involved for prizes outside of the famous Olympic medals. How much do athletes make if they place at the Olympic Games?

Well, for Team USA, Nasdaq/Money.com Brad Tuttle reports that “the U.S. Olympic & Paralympic Committee’s Operation Gold program makes payments of $37,500 to each Team USA athlete for winning an Olympic gold medal, plus $22,500 for silver and $15,000 for bronze.”

The Olympic medals themselves gain their value more on their merit instead of their materials, as Tuttle points out that they go far more at auction than they would at material value.

However, other athletes around the world might make even more money than their United States counterparts, per Nasdaq.

“Programs in other countries offer even bigger payouts: Gold medal winners from Hong Kong, Singapore or Taiwan receive the equivalent of more than $600,000 apiece,” Tuttle reported.
