For the fifth consecutive week, the Kansas City Chiefs have opened as double-digit favorites over their opponents. This time they face the Denver Broncos on New Year’s Day in what will be the final regular-season game at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium.
According to Tipico Sportsbook, Kansas City (12-3) are 12.5-point favorites over Denver (4-11) next Sunday. The over/under point total is set at 49.5 points scored. The money line is now -850 for the Chiefs, giving K.C. an 89.47% implied win probability. Keep in mind this Kansas City team is now 5-9-1 against the spread this season and they’re also 7-8 on the over/under point total in their last 15 games.
It’s not a huge surprise to see a big point spread heading into this game given how poorly the Broncos played on Christmas Day in Week 16. While they’ll surely be motivated in the rematch with an AFC West rival, it’s tough to find much to like about Denver this week. It took a three-turnover performance from Patrick Mahomes back in Week 14 to give the Broncos a shot in that game. This time, the Chiefs will surely be better-prepared and they’ll have a big advantage with the game taking place in Kansas City.
