We have taken the decision to remove the Aviva Investors UK Listed Equity Income fund from the Wealth Shortlist.
Chris Murphy, co-manager of the fund, is currently taking a temporary leave of absence from Aviva Investors. Murphy has managed the fund since 2009 and has over three decades of investment experience. Murphy’s co-manager since 2016, James Balfour, is also absent on paternity leave.
Head of UK Equities, Trevor Green, is acting as interim portfolio manager of the fund, supported by Charlotte Meyrick. Green has a long track record of managing UK equity funds, but is not a manager we are familiar with, having spent recent years managing institutional mandates.
Our view
Our conviction in the fund’s long-term prospects largely lay with Chris Murphy. Murphy and Balfour’s absence reduces our conviction in the management of the fund below the level required for it to retain its place on the Wealth Shortlist.
Although we’re removing the Aviva UK Listed Equity Income fund from the Wealth Shortlist, this isn’t a recommendation to make any changes to a portfolio. Investors should make sure any investments match their investment goals and attitude to risk and are held as part of a diversified portfolio. If you’re not sure if an investment is suitable for your circumstances, please seek personal advice.
