USA-Malaysia: Microsoft will invest 2,2 billion dollars in cloud services and artificial intelligence
US multinational Microsoft intends to invest $2,2 billion in the artificial intelligence and cloud computing segments in Malaysia, with the aim of supporting its digital transformation. This was reported by the news site “Channel News Asia”, specifying that the CEO of the technological giant, Satya Nadella, is touring three Southeast Asian nations – Indonesia, Thailand and Malaysia – to announce a series of investments in data centers, artificial intelligence and cloud services.
“Microsoft has announced that it will invest $2,2 billion over the next four years to support Malaysia’s digital transformation, (making) the largest single investment in its 32-year history in the country,” Nadella reported at the event.” Microsoft Build AI Day” held today in Kuala Lumpur, specifying that the financing will help train approximately 200 thousand professionals in the artificial intelligence sector. “Our investments in digital infrastructure and skills will help Malaysian businesses, communities and developers apply the latest technology to drive inclusive economic growth and innovation across the country,” he added, highlighting the benefits of a solid AI infrastructure for the entire region.
The announcement of the investment in Malaysia follows Microsoft’s $1,7 billion in financing in Indonesia and news that the company will build its first regional data center in Thailand.
