U.S. stocks mixed at close of trade; Dow Jones Industrial Average down 0.05% By Investing.com

Investing.com – U.S. stocks were mixed after the close on Friday, as gains in the , and sectors led shares higher while losses in the , and sectors led shares lower.

At the close in NYSE, the fell 0.05%, while the index climbed 0.17%, and the index added 0.19%.

The best performers of the session on the were Intel Corporation (NASDAQ:), which rose 1.95% or 0.92 points to trade at 48.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Amgen Inc (NASDAQ:) added 1.73% or 4.83 points to end at 284.16 and Merck & Company Inc (NYSE:) was up 1.23% or 1.31 points to 107.70 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Nike Inc (NYSE:), which fell 11.83% or 14.49 points to trade at 108.04 at the close. Walt Disney Company (NYSE:) declined 1.09% or 1.00 points to end at 91.02 and Boeing Co (NYSE:) was down 0.60% or 1.58 points to 260.44.

The top performers on the S&P 500 were ANSYS Inc (NASDAQ:) which rose 18.08% to 357.98, Moderna Inc (NASDAQ:) which was up 4.09% to settle at 94.89 and Albemarle Corp (NYSE:) which gained 3.20% to close at 150.10.

The worst performers were Nike Inc (NYSE:) which was down 11.83% to 108.04 in late trade, Synopsys Inc (NASDAQ:) which lost 6.34% to settle at 524.46 and VF Corporation (NYSE:) which was down 3.23% to 18.59 at the close.

The top performers on the NASDAQ Composite were Nextplay Technologies Inc (NASDAQ:) which rose 201.66% to 2.73, Jin Medical International Ltd (NASDAQ:) which was up 97.23% to settle at 139.01 and Daseke Inc (NASDAQ:) which gained 64.97% to close at 8.10.

The worst performers were Allovir Inc (NASDAQ:) which was down 67.15% to 0.77 in late trade, Jayud Global Logistics Ltd (NASDAQ:) which lost 53.96% to settle at 1.28 and Brilliant Acquisition Corp (NASDAQ:) which was down 43.95% to 4.70 at the close.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the New York Stock Exchange by 1919 to 938 and 95 ended unchanged; on the Nasdaq Stock Exchange, 2245 rose and 1162 declined, while 110 ended unchanged.

Shares in ANSYS Inc (NASDAQ:) rose to 52-week highs; gaining 18.08% or 54.82 to 357.98. Shares in Intel Corporation (NASDAQ:) rose to 52-week highs; up 1.95% or 0.92 to 48.00. Shares in Allovir Inc (NASDAQ:) fell to 3-years lows; down 67.15% or 1.56 to 0.77. Shares in Jin Medical International Ltd (NASDAQ:) rose to all time highs; up 97.23% or 68.53 to 139.01. Shares in Jayud Global Logistics Ltd (NASDAQ:) fell to all time lows; falling 53.96% or 1.50 to 1.28. Shares in Brilliant Acquisition Corp (NASDAQ:) fell to all time lows; losing 43.95% or 3.69 to 4.70.

Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.63% or 12.90 to $2,064.20 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in February fell 0.45% or 0.33 to hit $73.56 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract fell 0.26% or 0.21 to trade at $79.18 a barrel.

EUR/USD was unchanged 0.02% to 1.10, while USD/JPY rose 0.25% to 142.46.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.11% at 101.36.
