U.S. stocks higher at close of trade; Dow Jones Industrial Average up 1.09% By Investing.com

Investing.com – U.S. stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the , and sectors led shares higher.

At the close in NYSE, the added 1.09% to hit a new 1-month high, while the index climbed 1.02%, and the index climbed 1.18%.

The best performers of the session on the were Home Depot Inc (NYSE:), which rose 2.10% or 7.09 points to trade at 344.18 at the close. Meanwhile, 3M Company (NYSE:) added 1.99% or 1.98 points to end at 101.67 and Travelers Companies (NYSE:) was up 1.99% or 4.05 points to 207.19 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Visa Inc Class A (NYSE:), which fell 0.92% or 2.44 points to trade at 263.00 at the close. Walt Disney Company (NYSE:) declined 0.11% or 0.11 points to end at 96.95 and Salesforce Inc (NYSE:) was up 0.06% or 0.16 points to 252.59.

The top performers on the S&P 500 were Albemarle Corp (NYSE:) which rose 7.11% to 96.90, CarMax Inc (NYSE:) which was up 6.46% to settle at 76.93 and Illumina Inc (NASDAQ:) which gained 6.08% to close at 113.17.

The worst performers were Deckers Outdoor Corporation (NYSE:) which was down 4.86% to 893.37 in late trade, Uber Technologies Inc (NYSE:) which lost 2.88% to settle at 69.27 and Kenvue Inc (NYSE:) which was down 2.85% to 17.70 at the close.

The top performers on the NASDAQ Composite were Fresh2 Group Ltd DRC (NASDAQ:) which rose 820.38% to 2.89, Kazia Therapeutics Ltd ADR (NASDAQ:) which was up 248.02% to settle at 0.67 and Inspire Veterinary Partners Inc (NASDAQ:) which gained 110.23% to close at 7.40.

The worst performers were Zapp Electric Vehicles Group Ltd (NASDAQ:) which was down 47.91% to 9.35 in late trade, Shineco Inc (NASDAQ:) which lost 44.79% to settle at 2.49 and CVRx Inc (NASDAQ:) which was down 38.52% to 7.15 at the close.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the New York Stock Exchange by 2094 to 732 and 87 ended unchanged; on the Nasdaq Stock Exchange, 2039 rose and 1280 declined, while 139 ended unchanged.

Shares in Kenvue Inc (NYSE:) fell to all time lows; falling 2.85% or 0.52 to 17.70. Shares in Fresh2 Group Ltd DRC (NASDAQ:) rose to all time lows; up 820.38% or 2.58 to 2.89.

The , which measures the implied volatility of S&P 500 options, was up 2.72% to 12.85.

Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.43% or 10.20 to $2,378.10 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 1.22% or 0.99 to hit $82.40 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 0.83% or 0.70 to trade at $85.36 a barrel.

EUR/USD was unchanged 0.17% to 1.08, while USD/JPY rose 0.25% to 161.71.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.10% at 104.70.
