Investing.com – U.S. equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the , and sectors propelled shares lower.

At the close in NYSE, the fell 0.22%, while the index fell 0.25%, and the index declined 0.11%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the were Boeing Co (NYSE:), which rose 0.84% or 1.58 points to trade at 190.49 at the close. Intel Corporation (NASDAQ:) added 0.84% or 0.22 points to end at 26.43 and Chevron Corp (NYSE:) was up 0.66% or 1.17 points to 179.49 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Home Depot Inc (NYSE:), which lost 1.42% or 4.55 points to trade at 315.86 in late trade. The Travelers Companies Inc (NYSE:) declined 1.03% or 1.95 points to end at 187.49 and McDonald’s Corporation (NYSE:) shed 0.90% or 2.40 points to 263.53.

The top performers on the S&P 500 were Take-Two Interactive Software Inc (NASDAQ:) which rose 2.75% to 104.13, Las Vegas Sands Corp (NYSE:) which was up 2.10% to settle at 48.07 and Under Armour Inc A (NYSE:) which gained 2.01% to close at 10.16.

The worst performers were Charles River Laboratories (NYSE:) which was down 2.53% to 217.90 in late trade, Etsy Inc (NASDAQ:) which lost 2.36% to settle at 119.78 and Atmos Energy Corporation (NYSE:) which was down 2.11% to 112.07 at the close.

The top performers on the NASDAQ Composite were Dermata Therapeutics Inc (NASDAQ:) which rose 104.50% to 0.41, 180 Life Sciences Corp (NASDAQ:) which was up 79.37% to settle at 3.39 and SoundHound AI Inc (NASDAQ:) which gained 71.84% to close at 1.77.

The worst performers were Futu Holdings Ltd (NASDAQ:) which was down 31.00% to 40.65 in late trade, Up Fintech Holding Ltd (NASDAQ:) which lost 28.51% to settle at 3.41 and Hoth Therapeutics Inc (NASDAQ:) which was down 27.24% to 7.80 at the close.

Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1696 to 1357 and 132 ended unchanged; on the Nasdaq Stock Exchange, 1985 rose and 1745 declined, while 197 ended unchanged on the New York Stock Exchange.

The , which measures the implied volatility of S&P 500 options, was up 1.07% to 21.67.

In commodities trading, Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.22% or 4.05 to $1,830.05 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in February rose 2.68% or 2.10 to hit $80.50 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract rose 3.04% or 2.54 to trade at $86.00 a barrel.

EUR/USD was unchanged 0.40% to 1.07, while USD/JPY fell 1.42% to 131.12.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.33% at 103.24.
