Investing.com – U.K. stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the , and sectors led shares lower.
At the close in London, the declined 0.47%.
The best performers of the session on the were Admiral Group PLC (LON:), which rose 2.26% or 58.00 points to trade at 2,627.00 at the close. Meanwhile, EasyJet PLC (LON:) added 1.85% or 8.40 points to end at 463.60 and DS Smith PLC (LON:) was up 1.42% or 5.20 points to 370.80 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Ocado Group PLC (LON:), which fell 7.07% or 22.10 points to trade at 290.40 at the close. Burberry Group PLC (LON:) declined 4.46% or 45.40 points to end at 972.60 and ConvaTec Group PLC (LON:) was down 4.14% or 10.00 points to 231.40.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1147 to 668 and 704 ended unchanged.
Shares in Ocado Group PLC (LON:) fell to 5-year lows; down 7.07% or 22.10 to 290.40.
Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.36% or 8.50 to $2,335.90 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 0.54% or 0.44 to hit $81.19 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract fell 0.60% or 0.51 to trade at $84.64 a barrel.
GBP/USD was unchanged 0.00% to 1.27, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.18% to 0.84.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.21% at 105.34.
