U.K. stocks higher at close of trade; Investing.com United Kingdom 100 up 0.85% By Investing.com


Investing.com – U.K. stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the , and sectors led shares higher.

At the close in London, the gained 0.85%.

The best performers of the session on the were JD Sports Fashion PLC (LON:), which rose 5.09% or 6.10 points to trade at 125.90 at the close. Meanwhile, Fresnillo PLC (LON:) added 4.44% or 24.00 points to end at 565.00 and Land Securities Group PLC (LON:) was up 4.43% or 27.00 points to 636.50 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Ocado Group PLC (LON:), which fell 12.06% or 42.50 points to trade at 310.00 at the close. United Utilities Group PLC (LON:) declined 1.64% or 16.60 points to end at 993.40 and EasyJet PLC (LON:) was down 0.88% or 4.00 points to 451.10.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1126 to 653 and 736 ended unchanged.

Shares in Ocado Group PLC (LON:) fell to 5-year lows; down 12.06% or 42.50 to 310.00.

Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.89% or 20.90 to $2,367.80 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 0.22% or 0.18 to hit $80.89 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract rose 0.31% or 0.26 to trade at $85.33 a barrel.

GBP/USD was down 0.44% to 1.27, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.11% to 0.85.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.37% at 105.26.
