Investing.com – U.K. stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the , and sectors led shares higher.
At the close in London, the rose 0.63%.
The best performers of the session on the were RS Group PLC (LON:), which rose 3.69% or 26.00 points to trade at 731.00 at the close. Meanwhile, SSE PLC (LON:) added 3.51% or 61.00 points to end at 1,800.00 and Bunzl PLC (LON:) was up 3.45% or 100.00 points to 2,998.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were JD Sports Fashion PLC (LON:), which fell 2.20% or 2.65 points to trade at 117.85 at the close. Ashtead Group PLC (LON:) declined 2.00% or 110.00 points to end at 5,400.00 and Persimmon PLC (LON:) was down 1.23% or 17.50 points to 1,404.50.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1165 to 619 and 713 ended unchanged.
Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.65% or 15.10 to $2,344.10 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 0.80% or 0.64 to hit $80.36 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract rose 0.84% or 0.71 to trade at $84.96 a barrel.
GBP/USD was unchanged 0.02% to 1.27, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.10% to 0.85.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.08% at 104.86.
