Investing.com – U.K. stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the , and sectors led shares higher.
At the close in London, the added 0.15%.
The best performers of the session on the were Frasers Group PLC (LON:), which rose 9.19% or 75.50 points to trade at 897.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Schroders PLC (LON:) added 4.88% or 18.40 points to end at 395.20 and JD Sports Fashion PLC (LON:) was up 3.64% or 4.25 points to 120.90 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Antofagasta PLC (LON:), which fell 4.93% or 98.50 points to trade at 1,899.50 at the close. Melrose Industries PLC (LON:) declined 3.77% or 21.40 points to end at 545.60 and EasyJet PLC (LON:) was down 3.68% or 17.90 points to 468.70.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1080 to 709 and 702 ended unchanged.
Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.11% or 2.70 to $2,462.60 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in September rose 0.23% or 0.19 to hit $81.63 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 0.24% or 0.20 to trade at $85.28 a barrel.
GBP/USD was unchanged 0.25% to 1.30, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.01% to 0.84.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.27% at 103.72.
