U.K. shares lower at close of trade; Investing.com United Kingdom 100 down 1.33% By Investing.com


Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Beverage, Automobiles & Parts and Mining sectors propelled shares lower.

At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 fell 1.33%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were BAE Systems PLC (LON:BAES), which rose 1.24% or 13.50 points to trade at 1,103.50 at the close. SSE PLC (LON:SSE) added 1.11% or 18.50 points to end at 1,680.00 and Ferguson Plc (LON:FERG) was up 0.78% or 100.00 points to 12,970.00 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Diageo PLC (LON:DGE), which lost 12.17% or 395.00 points to trade at 2,850.00 in late trade. Ocado Group PLC (LON:OCDO) declined 5.58% or 30.40 points to end at 514.60 and Fresnillo PLC (LON:FRES) shed 4.93% or 26.80 points to 516.60.

Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1105 to 478 and 520 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.

In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 1.34% or 26.35 to $1,943.45 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December rose 1.74% or 1.32 to hit $77.06 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract rose 1.72% or 1.38 to trade at $81.39 a barrel.

GBP/USD was unchanged 0.08% to 1.22, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.15% to 0.87.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.01% at 105.79.
