Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the , and sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the fell 0.56%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the were GSK plc (LON:), which rose 4.87% or 66.20 points to trade at 1,425.20 at the close. Croda International PLC (LON:) added 2.05% or 112.00 points to end at 5,564.00 and British American Tobacco PLC (LON:) was up 1.37% or 35.50 points to 2,625.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Ocado Group PLC (LON:), which lost 5.32% or 30.20 points to trade at 537.60 in late trade. Tui AG (LON:) declined 4.89% or 28.00 points to end at 545.00 and EasyJet PLC (LON:) shed 4.69% or 23.20 points to 472.00.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1103 to 449 and 466 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.35% or 6.80 to $1,930.50 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 0.96% or 0.67 to hit $68.84 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract fell 0.84% or 0.62 to trade at $73.52 a barrel.
GBP/USD was unchanged 0.31% to 1.27, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.28% to 0.86.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.53% at 102.53.
