U.K. shares lower at close of trade; Investing.com United Kingdom 100 down 0.46% By Investing.com


Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Oil & Gas Producers, Fixed Line Telecommunications and Aerospace & Defense sectors propelled shares lower.

At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 fell 0.46%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Ocado Group PLC (LON:OCDO), which rose 6.48% or 33.00 points to trade at 542.20 at the close. BT Group PLC (LON:BT) added 5.71% or 6.70 points to end at 124.15 and Segro Plc (LON:SGRO) was up 4.68% or 35.00 points to 783.60 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Shell PLC (LON:SHEL), which lost 4.17% or 115.50 points to trade at 2,652.50 in late trade. Centrica PLC (LON:CNA) declined 2.73% or 4.30 points to end at 153.30 and Compass Group PLC (LON:CPG) shed 2.38% or 50.00 points to 2,052.00.

Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1094 to 500 and 527 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.

In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.26% or 5.25 to $1,998.75 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December fell 2.62% or 2.16 to hit $80.30 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract fell 2.33% or 2.02 to trade at $84.83 a barrel.

GBP/USD was up 1.47% to 1.24, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.38% to 0.87.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 1.03% at 104.88.
