U.K. shares lower at close of trade; Investing.com United Kingdom 100 down 0.25%


Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the , and sectors propelled shares lower.

At the close in London, the lost 0.25%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the were B&M European Value Retail SA (LON:), which rose 3.01% or 16.20 points to trade at 554.00 at the close. Coca Cola HBC AG (LON:) added 1.71% or 39.00 points to end at 2,326.00 and Hargreaves Lansdown PLC (LON:) was up 1.70% or 13.40 points to 801.20 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Ocado Group PLC (LON:), which lost 4.33% or 36.00 points to trade at 796.20 in late trade. Anglo American PLC (LON:) declined 3.58% or 77.00 points to end at 2,074.00 and Persimmon PLC (LON:) shed 3.01% or 34.00 points to 1,095.50.

Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 921 to 696 and 500 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.

In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.12% or 2.25 to $1,944.35 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 0.91% or 0.76 to hit $82.43 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract fell 0.79% or 0.69 to trade at $86.12 a barrel.

GBP/USD was unchanged 0.01% to 1.27, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.23% to 0.86.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.17% at 102.86.
