Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the , and sectors propelled shares lower.

At the close in London, the lost 0.07%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the were Ocado Group PLC (LON:), which rose 3.56% or 18.00 points to trade at 523.00 at the close. GSK plc (LON:) added 3.19% or 51.40 points to end at 1,662.60 and Croda International PLC (LON:) was up 1.65% or 80.00 points to 4,943.00 in late trade.

Biggest losers included JD Sports Fashion PLC (LON:), which lost 5.27% or 5.95 points to trade at 107.05 in late trade. Airtel Africa Plc (LON:) declined 4.40% or 4.90 points to end at 106.50 and Ashtead Group PLC (LON:) shed 4.34% or 232.00 points to 5,112.00.

Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1103 to 667 and 684 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.

In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was down 0.71% or 14.65 to $2,039.05 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in March rose 0.32% or 0.23 to hit $72.51 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract rose 0.40% or 0.31 to trade at $77.64 a barrel.

GBP/USD was down 0.77% to 1.25, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.28% to 0.86.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.57% at 104.37.
