Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the , and sectors propelled shares lower.

At the close in London, the lost 0.05%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the were Vodafone Group PLC (LON:), which rose 3.51% or 2.32 points to trade at 68.40 at the close. Flutter Entertainment PLC (LON:) added 2.31% or 385.00 points to end at 17,080.00 and Anglo American PLC (LON:) was up 2.07% or 35.80 points to 1,762.40 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Imperial Brands PLC (LON:), which lost 4.84% or 88.00 points to trade at 1,730.50 in late trade. Croda International PLC (LON:) declined 3.16% or 155.00 points to end at 4,748.00 and Unilever PLC (LON:) shed 2.02% or 80.50 points to 3,915.50.

Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 894 to 871 and 691 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.

In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was up 0.14% or 2.85 to $2,041.75 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in April rose 0.97% or 0.75 to hit $78.33 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract rose 0.65% or 0.53 to trade at $82.20 a barrel.

GBP/USD was unchanged 0.04% to 1.27, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.01% to 0.86.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.06% at 103.69.
