U.K. shares higher at close of trade; Investing.com United Kingdom 100 up 1.67% By Investing.com
Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the , and sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the gained 1.67% to hit a new all time high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the were Marks and Spencer Group PLC (LON:), which rose 4.39% or 10.80 points to trade at 256.60 at the close. J Sainsbury PLC (LON:) added 3.94% or 10.20 points to end at 269.00 and Vodafone Group PLC (LON:) was up 3.91% or 2.62 points to 69.62 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Endeavour Mining PLC (LON:), which lost 2.66% or 47.00 points to trade at 1,720.00 in late trade. Fresnillo PLC (LON:) declined 2.49% or 15.00 points to end at 587.00 and Antofagasta PLC (LON:) shed 2.18% or 49.00 points to 2,201.00.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1232 to 537 and 666 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was down 2.68% or 64.70 to $2,349.10 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June fell 0.12% or 0.10 to hit $82.12 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract fell 0.22% or 0.19 to trade at $87.10 a barrel.
GBP/USD was unchanged 0.24% to 1.23, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.21% to 0.86.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.04% at 106.03.
