Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the , and sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the added 0.14%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the were Lloyds Banking Group PLC (LON:), which rose 1.81% or 0.86 points to trade at 48.05 at the close. Persimmon PLC (LON:) added 1.17% or 16.00 points to end at 1,388.50 and Rightmove PLC (LON:) was up 0.95% or 5.40 points to 571.60 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Ocado Group PLC (LON:), which lost 4.25% or 32.20 points to trade at 725.00 in late trade. Rentokil Initial PLC (LON:) declined 1.52% or 6.70 points to end at 433.30 and DCC plc (LON:) shed 1.46% or 84.00 points to 5,682.00.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 0 to 0 on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.64% or 13.20 to $2,064.50 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in February fell 0.54% or 0.40 to hit $73.49 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract fell 0.26% or 0.21 to trade at $78.80 a barrel.
GBP/USD was unchanged 0.02% to 1.27, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.01% to 0.87.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.12% at 101.36.
