Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the , and sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the gained 0.13%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the were Anglo American PLC (LON:), which rose 3.99% or 128.00 points to trade at 3,337.50 at the close. BHP Group PLC (LON:) added 3.14% or 87.00 points to end at 2,855.00 and Rio Tinto PLC (LON:) was up 2.85% or 174.00 points to 6,277.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included DS Smith PLC (LON:), which lost 4.92% or 17.40 points to trade at 336.00 in late trade. EasyJet PLC (LON:) declined 2.88% or 14.60 points to end at 491.60 and International Consolidated Airlines Group S.A. (LON:) shed 2.51% or 4.20 points to 163.04.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 924 to 835 and 497 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was up 0.01% or 0.10 to $1,850.30 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in April rose 1.18% or 0.90 to hit $77.45 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract rose 1.30% or 1.08 to trade at $84.08 a barrel.
GBP/USD was unchanged 0.03% to 1.20, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.07% to 0.89.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.01% at 103.78.
