Companies Across Kolkata Are Major Investors In The UK British Minister

Britain’s International Trade Minister Nigel Huddleston on Tuesday underlined that the companies all across Kolkata are major investors in the United Kingdom, driving greater employment opportunities.

The companies also foster a strong partnership between Bengal and the UK, the trade minister added.

Huddleston, who is on a two-day visit to Kolkata, also met former West Bengal finance minister Amit Mitra.

He reaffirmed that the UK is committed to bolstering economic growth in the state.

In the wake to explore business opportunities, the UK minister also met Sanjiv Goenka, the Chairman and MD of the RPG Sanjiv Goenka Group and discussed the trade ties.

Huddleston took to Twitter and said, “Really productive meeting with Sanjiv Goenka – Chairman and MD of @rpsggroup. We discussed UK-India trade and how a UK-India FTA could help address obstacles to trade, reduce tariffs, and open doors for businesses – creating jobs and opportunities for economic growth.”

Meanwhile, UK-India free trade agreement (FTA) underlined Huddleston’s visit to India is to unveil the new initiatives in electric mobility and green construction in West Bengal.

FTA emphasised that the trade opportunity could open up more scope for economic growth.

According to the Department for Business and Trade (DBT), Huddleston is on a three-day visit to South Asia covering Kolkata in India and Dhaka in Bangladesh.
