Minister of Commerce Pan Sorasak requested EU businessmen and investors to target ASEAN member countries for their investments.
The Minister’s request was made at the 10th ASEAN-EU Business Summit co-organized by the EU-ASEAN Business Council and major companies from the ASEAN and EU region in Brussels, Belgium.
During the meeting, the Minister said that ASEAN and the European Union have come a long way together to achieve the main objective of further strengthening and expanding relations between the two communities in all fields, especially trade and business.
He continued that the ASEAN and the EU, as well as the world as a whole, have been severely affected by the Covid-19 pandemic. More challenges have also been added with geopolitical competition and tensions, trade wars and climate change. However, through the efforts and cooperation of the region and with partner countries, including the European Union, the two regions have gradually overcome the global threat and started the recovery process.
Sorasak also highlighted the important role of the private sector as a driving force in promoting the effective implementation of mechanisms set by the governments of regional countries.
He, on behalf of the Royal Government of Cambodia and Chairman of the ASEAN Summit for 2022, called on all foreign businessmen and investors, especially European businessmen and investors, to select ASEAN as a potential investment destination.
