Brazil shares lower at close of trade; Bovespa down 1.73% By Investing.com


Investing.com – Brazil equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the , and sectors propelled shares lower.

At the close in Sao Paulo, the fell 1.73% to hit a new 6-month low.

The biggest gainers of the session on the were Embraer SA (BVMF:), which rose 4.04% or 1.49 points to trade at 38.40 at the close. Sao Martinho SA (BVMF:) added 2.76% or 0.76 points to end at 28.25 and Marfrig Alimentos SA (BVMF:) was up 1.09% or 0.12 points to 11.12 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Lwsa SA (BVMF:), which lost 8.46% or 0.39 points to trade at 4.22 in late trade. Magazine Luiza SA (BVMF:) declined 7.56% or 0.96 points to end at 11.74 and MRV Engenharia e Participacoes SA (BVMF:) shed 6.02% or 0.44 points to 6.87.

Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 547 to 391 and 49 ended unchanged on the B3 Stock Exchange.

The , which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was down 2.14% to 27.00.

In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was down 3.45% or 82.45 to $2,308.45 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July fell 0.36% or 0.27 to hit $75.28 a barrel, while the July US coffee C contract fell 3.96% or 9.27 to trade at $224.93 .

USD/BRL was up 1.35% to 5.33, while EUR/BRL rose 0.59% to 5.75.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.80% at 104.89.
