The friends of Taiwo Owoeye, who was found dead in her home in Suffolk, United Kingdom, have moved to raise funds for the three children the deceased left behind.
PUNCH Metro reported that Taiwo was allegedly strangled to death by her husband, David Abodunde, on Tuesday, November 28.
It was gathered that the deceased victim, a nurse in the UK, had reported a case of an assault by her husband to the police on Monday, November 27.
The police, upon visiting their apartment the following day, found Taiwo lying on the floor of the living room motionless. Efforts to revive her, however, proved abortive as she was declared dead by the paramedics who arrived at the scene.
Taiwo’s husband, who also was said to be inside the apartment with her corspe, was thereafter arrested and charged with murder by the police.
Their three children had since been taken into the custody of the UK social services.
Following Taiwo’s demise, neighbours and colleagues at her place of work in the UK opened a GoFundMe account to assist a close relative of the family in Nigeria to enter the country and take care of the children.
PUNCH Metro found out on Monday that Sian Lear, who opened the GoFundMe account, noted on the platform that the funds raised would go to support the children and get any essential they may require.
Sain wrote, “We knew the lady and her children were close friends of ours. After the tragedy of three children losing their mother due to murder, we are raising money to assist the closest relatives of the victim’s three young children to be able to get the correct paperwork and visa required to be able to enter the UK from their homeland to ensure the children can be cared for their family and not placed into the care of the local authority as they’ve got no other family members within the UK.
“They (family) are desperate to be with the children to offer the emotional and physical support they will need and to keep them within the family. The money raised after that will go to supporting the children and getting any essentials they may require.”
The deceased’s brother, Alex Owoeye, also disclosed the development by sharing the GoFundMe link on his Facebook page.
The proposed amount is 10,000 pounds. Checks by our correspondent revealed that 4,229 pounds had so far been raised.
The couple got married in 2006. However, the late Taiwo relocated to the UK in 2022 and was later joined by her husband and their kids later in the year.
