Crompton Primary School on Longfield Road, Shaw, applied for further funding to support its musical curriculum drive.
The funding comes as part of Universal Music UK Sounds Foundation which enables more children to play a musical instrument.

The grant has meant the school has been able to use the money to purchase not only new instruments, but musical scores, scripts and other key equipment such as music stands.
The news comes as Crompton Primary has been graded ‘good’ and ‘outstanding’ over the years by the education watchdog, Ofsted, which praised the school’s “imaginative development” and its “interesting” programme of extra-curricular activities, including dance, music and arts and crafts.
The headteacher of the primary, Gemma Croston, said: “This is an excellent opportunity to widen the music curriculum we currently offer.
“We would like to thank Universal Music UK Sound Foundation as they have enabled children at Crompton Primary School to try new instruments and to further explore their love of music.”
