EU Funding Opportunities Highlighted at Iceland Innovation Week 2024


Iceland Innovation Week 2024 took place 13 – 17 May in Kolaportið and Hafnartorg, Reykjavík, Iceland. The EU Delegation to Iceland actively participated in the conference again this year. The EU Delegation held a side event on EU funding opportunities to Icelandic innovative companies and entrepreneurs. The EU Ambassador to Iceland participated in a panel discussion on the main stage about EU policies concerning innovation and public and private investments.

 

The EU Delegation participated again in Iceland Innovation Week 2024 which took place last week between 13 and 17 May 2024 at Kolaportið and Hafnartorg in Reykjavík. 

At the Kolaportið venue, the Delegation welcomed guests and presented the many opportunities that are available to Icelandic innovation and start-up companies through EU programmes and EU innovation funds.

the EU Ambassador to Iceland, Lucie Samcová-Hall Allen, also participated in the panel discussions entitled “Funding Fusion: Unlocking Disruptive Innovation through Public and Private Investments” among Chris O’Connor, Investor at the NATO Innovation Fund; Sara Sande, Head of Green Transition at EIFO; and Jonathan Hollis, Managng Partner at Mountside Ventures.

The EU Delegation held a breakfast side-event entitled “Wanna Have Fun(ds)? 2.0” where representatives from three innovative Icelandic companies introduced their companies and share their experience of using EU funding to further develop their products and their research. The event highlighted the opportunities available to Icelandic companies and entrepreneurs through EU programmes and investment funds.

The Delegation thanks Mr  Sveinn Aðalsteinsson, CEO of Orkídeu; Jónas R. Viðarsson, Director at Matís and Ester Ósk Pálsdóttir, Project Coordinator at Thor Ice Chilling Solutions for their participation and their highly valued contribution to this successful event. The Delegation also thanks the festival organisers and festival guests of this year’s IWW 2024.
