The European Commission will plough ahead with controversial proposals that would require Ice Clear Europe to break out a separate default fund for its commodity derivatives positions, despite claims that this would be “problematic”.

The draft proposals seen by Risk.net explain that isolating the default fund for commodity derivatives from the rest of the products cleared at central counterparties (CCPs) are needed “given the limited correlation between the risk characteristics of commodity
