Hospice at Home Carlisle and North Lakeland will once again be collecting real Christmas
trees in January 2024, having done the same in recent years in order to raise vital funds to help local patients and their families.
The Christmas tree collection day, which represents a brilliant way for people to dispose of their used Christmas trees, has historically been a huge success, with thousands of trees donated over the years and generous funds gifted too.
In 2023, the appeal raised almost £15,000 which was a fantastic way for the charity to start the year.
The Cumbrian charity provides high-quality, palliative care and support to patients, family members and carers affected by life-limiting illnesses.
Volunteers and business supporters will set off early on January 11 and 12, 2024 to
collect trees from Carlisle, Penrith, Longtown, Brampton, Keswick, and Wigton – locations which the clinical services team of Hospice at Home visit to provide vital care and support to patients at the end stages of life.
Members of the public are requested to book their tree in for collection, and all donations given towards this are gratefully received.
Jenny Urwin, fundraiser for Hospice at Home, said: “Having a real Christmas tree in the home really does add a bit of magic to the season. We are really pleased that the Christmas tree collection appeal is back.
“It is such a great way to help the environment by responsible recycling whilst spreading Christmas joy by supporting a local charity. The support for this appeal has grown each year and we are hoping that the total raised by January will surpass previous years.
“We are thankful to our event sponsor Lloyd Motor Group for supporting us again, and the host of local businesses that are donating their time and vans over the collection days.”
