Christchurch Round Table Christmas tree collection in January to raise funds for Macmillan Unit

CHRISTMAS trees can be collected for recycling in January to raise funds for the Macmillan Unit in the grounds of Christchurch Hospital.

Christchurch Round Table is offering the service to householders on two dates – 2nd and 8th January – for donations from £10.

Half of the proceeds will go to Macmillan Caring Locally, which supports the palliative care unit that cares for 1,600 patients each year.

The other half will go towards other local charities.

Nigel Jarvis, of Christchurch Round Table, said: “The Mac Unit and its staff provide invaluable care and support to a growing number of terminally-ill people and their families each year and it is great to know our efforts will be helping them to carry on their work in 2023.”

People wishing to have their trees taken away can book a collection slot on either date and leave them on their driveway the night before.

Nigel and his fellow volunteers will arrive early in the morning to take them away.

He added: “This year we have expanded our collection areas and will be collecting from all BH23, BH25 & BH5, BH6, BH7 postcodes.

“But if you are outside of this area, please contact us before booking as we may still be able to help.”

Tree size is limited up to 6ft or by prior arrangement.
