Lookin Good Feelin Great, a group of Furness women who are or have battled against cancer, are organising the annual Christmas craft and fun extravaganza fair at St Matthew’s in Barrow to raise funds for those living with cancer.
The group offers £6000 a year to people battling the condition who are nominated by their loved ones or by people who know them.
“We need to raise as much as possible,” said the group member Adele Dean.
“It’s an ongoing challenge for us as we give £6000 a year to our local people. We are constantly looking for ways to replenish our funds.
“We also need colouring books or selection boxes for Santa to give to the children.”

Members are hoping to raise enough funds through the Christmas fair which is taking place on November 18 from 11am.
The fair is their ‘biggest fundraiser’ of the year.
Adele said: “The craft sale has been very successful, and we have carol singers, school choirs and Father Christmas.
“We have homemade cakes, bacon butty’s and hot dogs, and craft making for the children. There are lots of craft stalls, and everyone really enjoys it. The atmosphere is so good.
“We all feel cancer is evil, but it’s given us the drive to try and make a rotten disease into something positive as it’s joined us together, and we feel we can make a difference.”
“Sadly we have lost many of our friends but this has made us more determined to help our local people going through this rotten disease,” concluded Adele.
The event is for the event is £1 entry fee and entitles visitors to a free cup of tea.
Last year, Lookin Good Feelin Great raised £1500 during the Christmas craft.
The group was first set up in 2016 with a small group of women undergoing treatment and raised £22k by making a calendar.
Since then they have gone from five to 70 local members providing different types of support from making cancer survival bags to providing a chat group on Facebook.
