The London Marathon, which took place on April 23, was Tracey Dawber’s first full marathon.
Tracey, who is mum to her beloved dog Noodles and daughter Tabitha, works as a franchise support manager at Petpals, a pet care brand that places high value on providing pets with top-quality care and support. When a dog is in distress, needs a home, or owners need a helping hand, Dogs Trust is there.

When asked how the marathon had been, Tracey said: “Running the London Marathon was so many things – a truly unique experience, utterly awesome along with absolute pain towards the end!
“I don’t think anything can really prepare you for the joy and support, not just from the crowd but from the other runners too.
“Everyone is willing each other to keep going, shouting words of encouragement and laughter. It really does bring people together and brings out the very best of people, even through all the pain of the run. It’s really quite humbling.”
Tracey said she had enjoyed the run but was left feeling ill towards the end of the marathon which slowed her running, taking her off her target finish time. Despite this, Tracey was not discouraged and has already entered the ballot to do it all again next year.

Tracey added: “Although I was disappointed with my time, I’m delighted to say that I have raised over £1,700 so far for the Dogs Trust and that’s what matters the most. I’m so happy to be able to help such a great cause.”
Tracey said she had felt ‘relief’ when she finally crossed the finish line. Tracey said: “I thought to myself slap that medal on me! I was beyond happy and proud that I had actually run the London marathon. Not a lot of people can say that.”
