HARBORNE Village BID is supporting Arrive Alive with the 24-hour ‘Le Tour De Harborne’, taking place on Friday 14th – Saturday 15th July 2023 on Harborne High Street.
The 24-hour event which will take place this summer, with the support of local businesses and the community to help reach the £14,400 target needed to fund a locally based volunteer-operated 999 ambulance vehicle. The car will be used by Community First Responders, who are medically trained volunteers trained by the West Midlands Ambulance Service.
The ‘Le Tour De Harborne’ event will invite 144 participants made up of individuals or teams of up to 6, to cycle as far as possible in one hour using 6 stationary bikes located on Harborne High Street over a 24-hour period. The aim is to collectively reach the goal distance of 3365.8km – the same distance as the Tour De France route.
Harborne Village BID is asking each rider to raise a minimum of £100 each, which will enable Arrive Alive to fund a life-saving vehicle in Harborne.
The Harborne Village BID was inspired to take on this challenge after Debbie Roscoe, local resident and founder of Arrive Alive, joined them as one of the ‘Harborne Heroes’ that switched on the Christmas lights at the BID’s annual Harborne Lights Up event last November.

Our Harborne community is crucial to the life of the High Street and so as an organisation representing the Harborne business community, we wanted to give back by helping to fundraise for a response car that could ultimately save local lives.”

Arrive Alive is the UK’s only registered charity of its kind and is non-government or NHS funded. The charity has already financed equipment across the West Midlands. The first response vehicles arrive in those vital seconds/minutes/hours before the road/air ambulances, to initiate lifesaving treatment.
