University of Parthenope: ‘Welcome!’
Home to nearly 20 Staff Week participants, the University of Parthenope was founded in 1919 on the initiative of the visionary Vice Admiral Leonardo Cattolico and focused on advancing knowledge of the oceans and seas as a dynamic system of exchange. Today, the University educates nearly 16,000 students who have the opportunity to experience exciting academic life daily in the heart of Naples, Italy’s third-largest city with a rich history and cultural heritage.
Participants of the event were welcomed by Vice-Rector for Internationalisation prof. Vito Pascazio, SEA-EU Programme Coordinator prof. Gabriele Sampagnaro, Marialaura Eliani (Internationalization Office) and Giovanna Ivana Apice (International Research Projects Office).
Classes prepared by the event’s organisers were held in the Faculty of Economics and Law building, which offered spectacular views of the Tyrrhenian Sea, the archipelago of the Phlegrean Islands and the awe-inspiring Vesuvius volcano.
Sustainable Finance – lectures on the financial aspects of climate risk
The aim of the Sustainable Finance lecture and workshop series, attended by dr Magdalena Markiewicz and dr Joanna Czerepko, was to provide research and teaching staff at SEA-EU alliance universities with an in-depth understanding of how financial practices can be aligned with (environmental and social) sustainability goals.
The event provided a platform for participants to expand their knowledge of sustainable finance practices, innovations and challenges. Through a series of workshops, lectures and discussions, participants gained valuable insights into how finance and sustainability can (and must) coexist harmoniously.
Discussions on the possibilities and scope of financial risk analysis from a nature-related risk perspective were informed by the experiences of international workshop participants representing the University of Gdańsk, University of Split, L-Università ta’ Malta, Universidade do Algarve, Università degli Studi di Napoli Parthenope.
The didactic group focused on the topic of sustainable finance, its continuous and rapid evolution and the challenges faced by modern society.
