SNAP Benefits December 2022: Are you getting extra food stamps this month?

Christmas time can be the most challenging time of the year for adults to make sure that there is enough food to go around for their children or even just for themselves.

That is why there are a lot of people in the USA asking the question as to whether extra food stamps will be handed out in the month of December 2022.

The Supplemental Nutritional Assistance Program, more commonly known as food stamps or SNAP, is a program that helps people put enough food on the table all year round.

Are there extra food stamps in December 2022?

The great news for recipients is that many states are administering extra food stamps in December to cope with the more financially demanding time of the year.

This extra SNAP support was authorised at the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic and in many states it has remained in place. It is a scheme that will remain available until at least mid-January 2023.

States will have at least 60 days notice before the end of SNAP in order to prepare for a transition into other forms of welfare for those who need it.

Many states have agreed to hand out extra food stamps in December although the dates at which they will be administered are not the same everywhere.

Some will send the extra at the same time as the regular benefit, whilst others will do it separately.

It cannot even be said that all states will send the extra in December, as it may be in January.
