Mark Clephan has been named the new EY UK and Ireland corporate finance leader. He has been with the firm for more than two decades.
Silvia Rindone, UK and Ireland managing partner for strategy and transactions at EY, said, “Mark brings a combination of sector and regional experience to the role of corporate finance leader having worked across the private market with PE mid-market clients and entrepreneurial businesses. I look forward to working with him to help shape the future direction of the UK and Ireland corporate finance team and wider strategy and transactions business.”
Clephan joined EY in 2001 and is an M&A partner based in the EY Manchester office, where he also leads the firm’s corporate finance team for northern England. He brings 25 years’ experience to his new role, having worked with a wide variety of private equity houses, listed and private companies as well as many entrepreneurs.
Speaking on his promotion, Clephan added, “I’m excited to lead the Corporate Finance team through the next stage of evolution, building on the strong platform set by Fraser’s leadership.”
He takes on the role from Fraser Greenshields who led the corporate finance team for seven years. Greenshields will be returning full-time to his client facing role as a Partner focusing on the real estate, hospitality, and construction sectors.
The EY corporate finance team provides a wide range of transaction advisory services to help companies make decisions about their corporate strategies which includes business valuations, capital market transactions, financial modelling, deal structuring, mergers and acquisitions, divestitures, and advising on joint ventures and alliances.
The move comes as EY also looks to replace its previous corporate finance leader for the EMEA region. Victoria Price recently left the Big Four firm for global professional services company Alvarez & Marsal, strengthening its tax advisory offering as a managing director. She will now lead the firm’s private capital offering for entrepreneurs in the UK.
